Home EV Charger Installation in Enfield
Enfield runs from the Victorian terraces of Edmonton and Ponders End to the 1930s semis of Southgate and Palmers Green, and out to the large detached houses of Grange Park and Hadley Wood. Most of these homes have somewhere to park and a wall close by, which makes a home charger a simple, tidy job. If you can park on your own property, you do not need to queue for a shared street point.
EV Install Pro supplies and fits Volec, Ohme and EVEC chargers across the borough from £899, fully installed. An engineer surveys the house first, checks the wiring and measures the cable route, then gives you one fixed price in writing. We cover EN1, EN2, EN3, EN4, N9, N13, N14, N18 and N21, and we flag early if your road sits in one of Enfield’s many conservation areas.
- Fixed price confirmed after survey
- OZEV approved installers

What Happens at Your Enfield Home, Visit by Visit
Two visits cover most Enfield houses. Here is what each one involves.
Visit one: the survey
An engineer looks at your parking space, finds the best wall, tests the consumer unit and earth, and measures the cable route from the meter.
Between visits: your quote
You get one fixed price in writing, with any extra work listed on separate lines. We also check your address against local planning rules.
Visit two: the install
We mount the charger, run the cable on its own circuit, and fit any consumer unit changes agreed in the quote.
Before we leave
We test the circuit, notify your network operator, set up the app and a charging time, and issue your Electrical Installation Certificate.
Enfield also has a large industrial base around Brimsdown and the A406, so we fit workplace chargers for business sites too.
Get a quoteCharging Your Car at Home in Edmonton, Southgate, Palmers Green and Grange Park
Enfield is a long borough and the housing changes a lot from south to north. Here is how the main types affect an install.
Southgate, Palmers Green and Winchmore Hill
Many 1930s and Edwardian semis here have a front garden or drive. A wall mounted charger beside the car is usually the simplest route, and a straight cable run keeps the price down.
Edmonton, Ponders End and Enfield Lock
Terraced streets are common. Parking is often at the front with the meter nearby, but cable routes can be tight. Our terraced house guide shows the usual options.
Houses without a drive
Enfield has partnered with Char.gy to fit lamp post chargers as a shared option. If you park only on the road, read our no driveway guide before choosing.
Enfield EV Charger Installation Prices From £899
Pick a charger and the price is fixed once we have surveyed your house. It covers the unit, a standard cable run, testing and your certificate. If your route is long or the consumer unit needs work, those items appear as separate lines. Our guide to what affects installation cost explains each part.

Choosing a Charger for Your Enfield Home
Every charger below works with every modern UK electric car. For houses, 7kW is the usual choice, since 22kW chargers need three phase power that most homes lack. The table compares the three side by side.

Which Charger Fits Which Enfield Driver?
Pick the line that sounds most like you.
Choose the Volec Pulse if
You want the lowest price from £899, a case rated IP66 for a front wall, and a charger that works with solar later. You bring your own Type 2 lead, so there is no cable hanging on the wall.
Choose the Ohme Home Pro if
You are on a time of use electricity plan and want the charger to follow your tariff on its own. It has its own 4G connection and a 5m lead fitted, from £999.
Choose the EVEC Home Charger if
You want to set the output yourself between 3.7kW and 7.4kW and connect over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or Ethernet. It has a 5m lead fitted and costs £995.

Myth: smart charging means a slower charge.
Fact: the charger runs at full speed inside your chosen window. It simply waits for that window to open.
Myth: it only works with a special plan.

Myth: it is only for people with solar.
Fact: solar is a bonus. The Volec Pulse can follow it, as covered in our solar charging guide, and smart chargers explains the rest.
Enfield Charger Rules: Conservation Areas, Crossovers and Lamp Posts
Conservation areas
Enfield has many, including Enfield Town, Winchmore Hill, Grange Park, Southgate Green, Bush Hill Park, Hadley Wood and Forty Hill. A wall charger on a house is often fine, but we check your address before quoting.
Article 4 directions
The council lists Article 4 directions for most conservation areas, which remove some permitted development rights. Work at the front of a house, like boundary changes for parking, may need an application first.
Dropped kerbs and the pavement
If you need a new crossover to park on your front garden, you need council approval. Cables across the pavement are not generally allowed.
Wiring and the network operator
We test your consumer unit and earth, notify the network operator (usually UK Power Networks here) and give you a certificate.

Enfield EV Charger Questions
Can I fit a charger in Winchmore Hill, Grange Park or Southgate Green?
Usually yes, though all three sit in conservation areas with Article 4 directions. A wall mounted charger is often acceptable, but front boundary or garden changes may need permission. We check your address before quoting. Our rules and permits guide covers the basics.
We live in a large detached house in Hadley Wood. Anything different?
The main difference is distance. Big plots can mean a long cable run from the meter to the drive, which is added as a separate line. Some of Hadley Wood is also in a conservation area, so we check planning too.
Edmonton has lots of terraces. Is a charger realistic?
Yes, if the house has a front garden or drive. We measure the route from the meter to the car and show the exact cable run in your quote. If the only parking is on the road, a private charger will not work and the next option is a shared point.
Enfield is adding 1,000 lamp post chargers. Do I still need my own?
Many residents will use them, especially without a drive. But lamp post points are shared, and may not be outside your house. A home charger is always available and follows your schedule, as explained in our smart charging guide.
I want to turn my front garden into a parking space. What do I need?
You need council approval for a dropped kerb, and in a conservation area you may need planning permission for the hardstanding or boundary changes. Sort that out first. We can fit the charger once the space is approved.
Will my 1930s semi in Southgate or Palmers Green need a new consumer unit?
Not always. We test the existing unit at the survey and tell you if an upgrade is needed before you commit. Our guide to a new consumer unit lists the typical triggers.
Can you fit a charger at my business in Brimsdown or Enfield Lock?
Yes. We install chargers at workplaces and trade units as well as homes. See our workplace charging page or send us your site details.
How much does installation cost?
From £899 for the Volec Pulse, £995 for the EVEC Home Charger and £999 for the Ohme Home Pro, all fully installed. The price is fixed after the survey.
Which charger suits a house in EN1 or N21?
Most customers pick the Volec Pulse for the price and the IP66 case. If you want the charger to follow your tariff, look at the Ohme Home Pro. Our note on tethered and untethered chargers helps with the lead question.
Do you cover Cockfosters, Crews Hill and Ponders End?
Yes, the whole borough. Send your postcode and we confirm. More answers are on our FAQs page.
