Specifications

The EVEC Home Charger keeps things simple. It is a compact wall unit with a Type 2 socket, adjustable power, solar charging and an app. You can charge at full speed or turn the power down to suit your home.

Power output: 7.4kW

The EVEC delivers up to 7.4kW from a 32A single-phase supply. That adds around 25 miles of range per hour of charge, depending on your car. It is far faster than a 3-pin plug and easily fills most cars overnight. The current is adjustable from 6A to 32A, so your engineer can match it to your home.

You can choose half power at 3.7kW or full power at 7.4kW. This is useful if your supply is limited, if you share the supply with other big appliances, or if you simply do not need the full speed.

The EVEC supports solar charging, so it can top up your car with spare energy from your panels. This helps you use more of the power you make instead of sending it back to the grid. A suitable solar setup is needed.

The EVEC has a Type 2 socket and no fixed cable. You plug in your own Type 2 charging cable, which suits every current UK electric vehicle and plug-in hybrid. It also lets you pick a cable length that fits your driveway.

IP54 means the unit is protected against dust and splashing water from any direction. It is made for wall mounting indoors or outdoors, and it works in temperatures from minus 40 to 55 degrees Celsius.

The EVEC comes with a 3-year warranty, so you are covered if something goes wrong.

The charger has built-in protection against over-current, over and under voltage, over-temperature and earth faults. It uses a Type A RCD with 6mA DC protection and PEN fault protection. The case is made from flame-retardant material, and the charger is CE and UKCA approved.

The unit measures 300 by 190 by 126mm and weighs only 1.8kg, so it fits neatly on most walls. A three-colour LED shows charging status and error messages at a glance.

Smart Features

The EVEC app gives you simple control over your charging, and the charger works with solar power and your home’s electricity load. It is smart charging without the complicated set-up.

Smart Scheduling - Yes

Use the EVEC app on your phone to schedule charging, monitor progress and get an alert when your car is done. Set your charging to run at night or whenever suits you. The charger also supports plug and charge, so you can start a session as soon as you connect your car.

The EVEC can balance the electricity load in your home. If your house is using a lot of power, the charger can lower its own output to protect your main fuse, then speed up again when there is room.

The charger can use spare solar power to charge your car. It also supports OCPP 1.6J with over-the-air updates, which is the open standard used by many charging networks and apps, so it can receive updates and work with compatible platforms in the future.

EVEC FAQ

Will the EVEC Home Charger work with my car?

Yes. It works with any electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid that has a Type 2 inlet, which covers every current UK model. You just need a Type 2 charging cable.

Does the EVEC Home Charger come with a cable?

No. The EVEC is untethered, so it has a Type 2 socket and no attached cable. You plug in your own Type 2 cable, which lets you choose the length that suits your parking space. Ask us about cable options when you request your quote.

How fast does the EVEC Home Charger charge?

It charges at up to 7.4kW, which adds around 25 miles of range per hour, depending on your car. Most cars charge fully overnight. You can also set it to 3.7kW if you need a lower speed.

Can the EVEC Home Charger use solar power?

Yes. It supports solar charging, so it can use spare energy from your panels to charge your car. You need a suitable solar setup for this to work.

Does the EVEC Home Charger work with smart energy tariffs?

The EVEC lets you schedule charging in its app, so you can run it during your cheap overnight hours. It does not link directly to tariffs such as Intelligent Octopus Go. If you want that feature, the Ohme ePod is a better choice.

Does the EVEC Home Charger need Wi-Fi?

The EVEC connects by Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and it has no mobile signal option. Good Wi-Fi where the charger is fitted gives the best experience with the app. Our engineers will check your signal during the survey and on installation day.

Is the EVEC Home Charger weatherproof?

Yes. It is rated IP54, which protects against dust and splashing water. It can be fitted on a wall indoors or outdoors and works in temperatures from minus 40 to 55 degrees Celsius.

How do I set up the EVEC app?

Our engineers will set up the app on installation day. They will pair your charger, set your first schedule and show you how everything works before they leave.
