Home EV Charger Installation in Harrow
Harrow grew up around the Metropolitan line, and it shows. The borough is full of 1930s and Edwardian semis in Rayners Lane, Kenton and North Harrow, with larger houses around Pinner, Hatch End and Stanmore, and plenty of front gardens and driveways along the way. For a driver in a house like that, a charger on your own wall is the simplest way to charge, because the car is already parked where the power is.
EV Install Pro supplies and fits Volec, Ohme and EVEC chargers from £899, fully installed. We survey the house, test the wiring, measure the cable route and send one fixed price in writing. We cover HA1, HA2, HA3, HA5 and HA7, and because parts of Harrow on the Hill, Pinner and Stanmore have heritage protection, we check your address for planning limits before you commit.
- A fixed written price after the survey
- OZEV approved engineers
- Heritage area checks for Pinner and Stanmore

What Shapes the Price of a Harrow Charger Install
Most Harrow houses are simple jobs. Here are the five things that move the quote, so you know what to expect.
| Factor | How it affects your quote |
|---|---|
| Cable length | The further the charger is from your consumer unit, the more cable and clipping or ducting we need. |
| Wall type | Brick is straightforward. Rendered, pebble dashed or stone walls can take longer to fix to. |
| Consumer unit | If it is full or old, a new unit may be needed. We test it at the survey and list the cost separately. |
| Charger choice | From £899 for the Volec Pulse, £995 for the EVEC and £999 for the Ohme Home Pro. |
| Position | A charger on a post by a drive costs more to run a cable to than one on the house wall. |
See our cost guide for more. If you run a business unit in Wealdstone or Harrow town centre, we also fit workplace chargers.
Get a quoteHome Charging in Rayners Lane, Pinner, Kenton and Stanmore
Harrow is a suburban borough with a lot of houses that have off street parking. Here is how the main types look to an installer.
1930s semis in Rayners Lane, Kenton and North Harrow
Typical Metro-land houses with a front drive or garden, and the meter often close to the front door. A wall charger beside the car is the usual answer.
Larger houses in Pinner, Hatch End and Stanmore
Bigger plots mean longer routes from the meter, and some streets are in heritage areas. We plan both at the survey, so the quote is clear.
Terraces and homes without a drive
Harrow is installing lamp column chargers for streets with no off street parking. Our no driveway guide covers what that means for you.
Harrow Home Charger Installation Prices From £899
One fixed price once we have surveyed your house. It covers the charger, a standard cable run, testing and your certificate. Anything extra, like a long route or a consumer unit upgrade, appears as its own line. Read how installation prices are built for more.

Where on Your Harrow House Should the Charger Go?
Position decides how neat the install looks and how much cable it needs.
Front wall by the drive
The most common spot on a Metro-land semi. The Volec Pulse has an IP66 case, so a front wall facing the weather is fine.
Side passage wall
Good for hiding the unit from the street, especially in heritage areas. It can mean a longer cable route.
Garage wall
A sheltered position inside or beside an attached garage. We usually run the supply straight from the consumer unit.
Free standing post
Useful when the car parks away from the house. It needs a trench or duct, so it costs more than a wall mount.
A tethered or socketed unit?
A tethered charger such as the Ohme Home Pro has its 5m lead fitted. The socketed Volec Pulse keeps the front wall tidy.
Read about the Volec Pulse, the Ohme Home Pro and the EVEC Home Charger. Tethered and untethered chargers explains the lead choice.

Harrow Charger Rules: Heritage Areas, Pavements and Front Gardens
Stanmore and Pinner heritage areas
Harrow's Stanmore conservation areas, including Little Common, Stanmore Hill, Old Church Lane, Kerry Avenue and Canons Park Estate, are marked as having Article 4 directions. Pinner High Street and Harrow on the Hill are also protected, so we check your address first.
Cables across the pavement
The council does not currently allow cables across pavements for safety and access reasons. It is developing a home charging policy and says gully charging is under consideration but not approved.
Front gardens and crossovers
A new dropped kerb needs council approval, and paving a large front garden can need a permeable surface or planning permission. Sort the parking layout before the charger.
Wiring and the network operator
We test your consumer unit and earth, notify your network operator, and give you an Electrical Installation Certificate.

Harrow Home Charger Questions
Our house is in Stanmore Hill. Can we fit a charger?
Often yes, but Stanmore Hill is one of the conservation areas marked with an Article 4 direction, which means planning permission is needed for some works. We check your address and where the unit would sit before quoting. The basics are in our rules and permits guide.
Does living near Harrow on the Hill or in Pinner High Street change anything?
Both areas have heritage protection, and there are many listed buildings around Harrow on the Hill. A listed home needs extra care. We check status at the survey, choose the least visible position, and tell you what to confirm.
We have a 1930s semi in Rayners Lane. Is it a simple job?
Usually yes. These houses typically have a front drive and the meter close by, so the route is short. We still test the consumer unit and measure the run before we give a fixed price.
Harrow is adding 500 lamp column chargers. Do I still need my own?
The council and char.gy are rolling out 500, with 225 installed and 275 more due by October 2028, aimed mostly at homes with no drive. If you have a drive, a charger of your own is private and runs to your schedule. See our smart charging guide.
Can I run a cable across the pavement to my car?
Not at the moment. The council says safety and access risks rule it out, is developing a home charging policy, and has said gully charging is under consideration but not approved. There is no date, so do not plan around it. If you have a drive, you can have a charger now.
I want to pave my front garden for parking. What do I need?
You need council approval for a dropped kerb, and a large paved area may need a permeable surface or planning permission. Get the parking sorted first. We fit the charger once the space is ready.
We live in a large detached house in Pinner or Harrow Weald. Does that cost more?
Only if the meter is far from the parking spot. A longer cable route is added as its own line in your fixed quote, so you see it before you agree. We often find a tidy path along a wall or through the garage.
Can you fit chargers at a business in Wealdstone or Harrow town centre?
Yes. We install at workplaces as well as homes, for staff, visitors or company cars. See our workplace charging page or send your site details.
How much does installation cost, and which charger should I pick?
From £899 for the Volec Pulse, £995 for the EVEC Home Charger and £999 for the Ohme Home Pro, all fully installed, with the price fixed after the survey. Most Harrow customers choose the Volec Pulse for the price and the IP66 case. For a charger that follows your tariff, see the Ohme Home Pro.
Do you cover Kenton, Hatch End and Canons Park?
Yes, the whole borough. Send your postcode and we confirm. More answers are on our FAQs page.
