Home EV Charger Installation in Haringey
Haringey climbs from the Lea Valley streets of Tottenham up through Wood Green and Crouch End to the hilltop houses of Muswell Hill and Highgate. Many of its homes are period houses: Victorian and Edwardian terraces, 1930s semis and big detached villas on the hill. Many have a front garden or a side gate, and that is the starting point for a home charger.
EV Install Pro supplies and fits Volec, Ohme and EVEC chargers from £899, fully installed. We survey first, test your wiring, measure the route from the meter and send one fixed price in writing. We cover N4, N6, N8, N10, N15, N17 and N22. With 28 conservation areas listed by the council, we also check your street before we quote, so there are no planning surprises later.

Get a quoteHome Charging From Tottenham Terraces to Muswell Hill Semis
Haringey has three very different housing zones. Here is how each one shapes your install.
Muswell Hill, Crouch End and Highgate
Large Edwardian and Victorian houses, often with gardens and drives. Runs from the meter can be longer, and conservation areas are common, so planning is part of our survey.
Wood Green, Harringay and Stroud Green
Terraces and flat fronted Victorian houses. Where the house has a front garden, a wall charger is simple. Our terraced house guide shows the usual layout.
Tottenham, Bruce Grove and Seven Sisters
Period streets with mixed parking. If you have no off street space, the council runs lamp column charging, and our no driveway guide explains the choices.

Get a quoteSmart Charger or Basic Charger? The Plain Differences
Both types fill your battery. The difference is how much control you get.
- Timing. A basic charger starts when you plug in. A smart one waits for the window you chose.
- Cost. A smart charger can shift charging to hours when many plans are cheaper. See what home charging costs.
- Control. A smart charger lets you start, stop and set limits from the app.
- Solar. Only a smart charger can follow your panels, as in our solar charging guide.
All three chargers we fit are smart, so you get the control without paying extra for it. Our guide to smart chargers goes deeper.
Haringey Charger Rules: 28 Conservation Areas, Front Gardens and Crossovers
Driveway chargers
The council's planning advice says a charger on a driveway is usually permitted development, within size limits and not facing the highway within 2 metres. Listed buildings are different, so we check each address.
Conservation areas
Haringey lists 28, including Muswell Hill, Crouch End, Highgate, Bruce Grove and Alexandra Palace and Park. The council says a charger visible to the public in one may need permission.
Front gardens and dropped kerbs
A new off street space needs a dropped kerb. The council's policy DM34 aims to keep at least half of a front garden as soft landscaping, so plan the layout first.
Wiring and the network operator
We test the consumer unit and earth, notify your network operator, usually UK Power Networks, and give you a certificate.

Haringey Home Charger Questions
We live in a Crouch End conservation area. Can we fit a wall charger?
Often yes, though the council says a charger visible to the public in a conservation area may need permission. We note where the unit will sit, how visible it is from the road, and check your address before quoting. Our rules and permits guide covers the general rules.
Does a driveway charger in Haringey need planning permission?
The council’s planning advice says a driveway charger is usually permitted development in most cases, with limits on size and on facing the highway within 2 metres. Listed buildings are treated differently. We check these points at the survey and tell you in plain words if anything needs approval, so there is no guesswork on your side.
Can I turn my front garden into a parking space for a charger?
You need a dropped kerb from the council first, and its DM34 policy aims to keep at least half of a front garden as soft landscaping. Plan the space with that in mind. We fit the charger once parking is sorted.
I live on one of the Harringay terraces with no drive. What are my options?
A home charger needs private parking. Without it, the council runs lamp column charging with operators including TotalEnergies, BP Pulse and char.gy, and takes requests through an online form. It decides based on demand and funding, and does not install points for individual use, though it may consider a shared one if several neighbours ask. Read our no driveway guide.
Are Bruce Grove and Tottenham Green conservation areas a problem?
They can add steps for external works, but a tidy wall charger is often possible. We check the street, note where the unit would sit and how visible it is from the road, then tell you what to confirm with the council before you commit. If anything needs approval, you will know before you pay for the install.
We have a big hillside house in Highgate with a long drive. Does that cost more?
The main difference is cable length. If the meter is far from the parking spot, the extra run is listed as its own line in your fixed quote, so you see the cost before you agree. Where the route is awkward, we can often suggest a neater path along a boundary wall or through a side return.
Can you fit chargers at a workplace in Wood Green or Tottenham Hale?
Yes. We install at workplaces as well as homes, for staff, visitors or company vehicles. See our workplace charging page or send your site details.
How much does installation cost?
From £899 for the Volec Pulse, £995 for the EVEC Home Charger and £999 for the Ohme Home Pro, all fully installed. The price is fixed after the survey.
Which charger suits a house in N8 or N10?
Most customers choose the Volec Pulse for the price and IP66 case. If you want your charger to follow your tariff, look at the Ohme Home Pro. If you drive an import, check Type 1 and Type 2 plugs.
Do you cover Bounds Green, Alexandra Palace and Seven Sisters?
Yes, the whole borough. Send your postcode and we confirm. More answers are on our FAQs page.
