Home EV Charger Installation in Hammersmith and Fulham

Between the Thames and the A40, Hammersmith and Fulham is a patchwork of Victorian terraces, riverside villas, mansion blocks and mews. Parking is tight and resident permits are the rule, so the homes that can give you a space of your own, a front garden, a garage or a mews bay, are the ones best placed for a home charger. If that is you, we can fit one and give you a fixed price before any work starts.

EV Install Pro supplies and fits Volec, Ohme and EVEC chargers from £899, fully installed. An engineer surveys the house, tests the wiring and measures the cable route, then sends one written price. We cover W6, W12, W14 and SW6, from Brook Green to Parsons Green, and we check conservation area rules for your street before you commit to anything.

Is Your Hammersmith or Fulham Home Ready for a Charger? A Five Point Check

Run through these before you enquire. Most homes that tick the first two are good to go.

1. Can your car park on your own land?

A front garden, garage, yard or mews bay all count. A permit bay on the road does not, as a home charger needs private space.

2. Do you own the whole house?

We fit chargers at houses and workplaces. If the building is split into flats, it is not the right job for us.

3. How far is the car from the meter?

A short wall to wall run keeps the price down. Longer routes through a hall or side return are added as a separate line.

4. Is your street a conservation area?

Several Hammersmith and Fulham areas are, so tell us your address and we check before we quote.

5. Has the wiring been looked at lately?

Older homes sometimes need a consumer unit or earth check. We test both at the survey.

Run an office, studio or garage in W6 or W12? We also fit workplace chargers.

Home EV Charger Installation

Charging at Home on a Fulham, Brook Green or Shepherd's Bush Street

The borough is dense, so the type of space you park in matters more than the type of house. Here are the three setups we see most.

Terraces with a front garden

Fulham, Shepherd's Bush and Brook Green have many Victorian terraces. Where the car parks in the front garden, a wall charger and a short cable usually do the job.

Garages and mews bays

A garage or mews space gives you a sheltered spot. We run a supply from the house and fit the charger inside.

Permit parking on the street

Resident bays do not suit a home charger. The council has been adding public points, and our no driveway guide explains your options.

Comparing Volec Pulse, Ohme Home Pro and EVEC in West London

All three suit any modern UK electric car. For houses, 7kW is the sensible size, since 22kW chargers need a three phase supply that most homes do not have. Here is how they line up.

Charger Jargon in Plain English

The words on the box, and what they mean for you.

IP66

A rating for how well the case keeps out dust and water. The Volec Pulse has it, so rain and spray on a front wall are no problem.

Socketed

The charger has a Type 2 socket and you plug your own lead in. The Volec Pulse works this way, which keeps the wall tidy.

Tethered

The lead is fixed to the charger. The Ohme Home Pro and EVEC come with a 5m lead fitted.

Solar aware

The charger can use spare power from your solar panels. The Volec Pulse and Ohme Home Pro both support it, and the EVEC is solar ready.

Adjustable amps

A way to cap the power the charger draws. The Volec Pulse goes up to 48A and the EVEC sets 3.7kW to 7.4kW.

Details are on the Volec Pulse, Ohme Home Pro and EVEC Home Charger pages. Check Type 1 and Type 2 plugs if your car is an import.

Four App Settings Worth Knowing

A smart charger does its best work when you spend five minutes in the app. These are the settings that matter most.

  • Start window. Pick the hours you want charging to run, such as overnight, when many plans are cheaper. See what home charging costs.
  • Charge limit. Stop at a set level if you do not need a full battery every day.
  • Override. One tap starts charging now when plans change.
  • Solar mode. If you add panels, the Volec Pulse can follow them, as covered in our solar charging guide.

Hammersmith and Fulham Charger Rules: Conservation Areas, Crossovers and Pavements

Conservation areas

The council has many, including Brook Green, Hurlingham, Walham Green, Studdridge Street, Crabtree and Fulham Reach. A wall charger is often fine, but external works can need permission. We check your address first.

Listed and period homes

If your home is listed, or has features worth keeping, we discuss the neatest position for the unit and cable before quoting.

Crossovers and pavements

A new dropped kerb needs council approval, and cables across the pavement are not generally allowed. Check the council before changing a frontage.

Wiring and the network operator

We test the consumer unit and earth, notify your network operator, usually UK Power Networks in London, and issue your certificate.

Hammersmith and Fulham Charger Questions

My Fulham terrace has no drive. Can I still fit a charger?

Only if your car can park on private land, such as a front garden, garage or yard. A resident permit bay on the street does not work, because the charger has to sit on your own property.

Not usually for a wall charger, but external works in a conservation area can need permission. We check your address before quoting and flag anything to confirm. Our rules and permits guide has the basics.

Public points are shared and may not be on your street. A charger at home is there whenever you are, and runs on your schedule, as explained in our smart charging guide. If you cannot park privately, public points are your best option. Check the council for current locations.

A dropped kerb needs council approval, and in a conservation area the works to your frontage may need planning permission too. A cable over the pavement is not generally allowed. Sort out the parking first, then we fit the charger.

It is often a clean job. We run a supply from the house to the garage or bay and fit the charger inside. If the mews is shared, agree the position with neighbours first. See our home charger installation page.

Often with a quick check. Older homes may need a consumer unit or earth upgrade. We test both at the survey and put any extra work in your quote. Our guide to a new consumer unit lists the common triggers.

Yes. We install at workplaces as well as homes, for staff, visitors or company cars. See our workplace charging page or send your site details.

From £899 for the Volec Pulse, £995 for the EVEC Home Charger and £999 for the Ohme Home Pro, all fully installed. The price is fixed after the survey.

Most customers choose the Volec Pulse for the price and the IP66 case. If you want the charger to follow your tariff, look at the Ohme Home Pro. Our note on tethered and untethered chargers covers the lead question.

Yes, the whole borough. Send your postcode and we confirm. More answers are on our FAQs page.
